La Rafle.
Hi guys, after being studying some German History this short week,I had recently watched a film made by Alain Goldman, released at the beginning of this year call La Rafle or The Round Up. This movie is directed by Roselyne Bosch, produced by Alain Goldman, written by Roselyne Bosch, edited by Plantin Alice and the starting are by Melaine Laurent, Jean Reno Sylvie Testud, Gad Elmaleh and Raphaelle Agogue. According to Wikipedia, the budget of this French film was about € 20,000,000 and a gross revenue of € 24,234,537. This film is based on the true story of a young Jewish boy that since the beginning had to pass threw difficult moments where he and his family life is under danger. The costumes of this film are characterized of Jewish people that used to wear during this time that was non extravagant cloth, with a yellow star that meant that they were Jewish people. Their cloth were characterized because of this star that they had to wear in their clothes. So their costume were all known and noticeable. The props that this movie uses are the common as other real stories movies uses, to express the reality that it might had occurred during that difficult time, in order to let us catch they way of living, the director encourage the using of a messy place in which Jewish people used to lived over that conditions that they may leave any moment. So the background or setting are from messy departments like small neighborhoods to working camps, which this is the one that the director uses the most to show the movie. The scenes of this films are believable, because that's the purpose of the director, to show us the real story that Jewsish people had to pass during WW2, with Hitler in power as the Fuhrer. The props, the costumes, the main plots that the character had to face while the movie continues and the music being used matches with the real scenes being used to express that kind of mood that can't be explained toward ourselves, where human life was miserable and extremely bad treated. The film with the uses of the scenes, plots, dialogues, actions and sound catch our attention easily toward our feelings that creates us a melancholy mood. This film I consider that goes fast, which I think that its good and correct, because in that time the main actions that Hitler took over Germany and later on at other territories they were no slow, the opposite, his actions were fast and smarter, so I think that the movie is well presented with a faster way. This film play with the shots, where at the beginning it plays long shots, showing us the entire scenes, which is Paris, even do we can noticed because of the Eiffel Tower, then it is being showed some close ups to the character to show us their way of actions and moods that this situation that they had to live created to them. The filmmaker plays with the lights in most of the darker scenes, which are departments, camps were they used to sleep and other major places were the movie takes place. The production of this film was made by Bosch, which he decided to put and made this film as La Rafle because she felt sympathy with the victims, in the other hand her husband's family were Jewish people, and her father had been detained in Francisco Franco interment camps, so she felt connection with all this thing circumstances. So she discovered Joseph Weisman and Annette Monod, whose memories would eventually form the base of the entire script.
The shooting of this film began in May 2009, and lasted over 13 weeks, were 9,000 extras were used, and concentration camps were re constructed in Hungary of the shooting of this main parts. The dialogue of this film is simple, which I mean that the frases or words being used are understandable, the dialogue is ok, where I mean that it is not based on many words or concentrated of dialgue, which is corrects because it is showed more in the actions that the character had to pass.
