The Hayes code was made to the production of films, that determined some restrictions to U.S productions. Will H. hayes was the producer of this code, It was released by major studios from 1934 until 1968. MPAA adopted this code in 1930, but it was enforced in 1934. This code had some provisions:
1. Any film could lower the moral of the spectators, never make the viewer to take a stand for crime, sin or evil.
2. Correct standard of life, requirements in drama and comedy films.
3. Law, natural or human, shall not be ridiculed.
some other laws were put:
-nakedness and suggestive dances prohibited.
-The ridicule of religion was forbidden.
-Flag of U.S should be treated successfully.
-Scenes of passion should not be introduce.
-The language words or phrases that could be offensive should be banned.
-Murder and brutal killings could not be seen in details.
-Were forbidden all sex scenes, also sex perversion.
-Depiction of illegal drugs were forbidden etc.
a code of self-censorship in order to safeguard the zecency and values, code approved by the Association Producers and filmmakers who had formed precisely for this purpose and was chaired by William Hayes.
In my opinion, the Hayes code was very strict and I think that in this time, NO ONE would accept it. I think that even do this code was VERY strict it had something good because now a days we can see how children watch movies that ARE NOT for their age and that’s why the world is how it’s.
ReplyDeleteI think that they were extremely strictly because even movies like Bambi were banned. I´m agreed with the prohibition of certain words but they were so much, because as I said even Bambi was banned (an innocent movie).
ReplyDeleteMy opinion is that the hayes code was very strict, was greatly exaggerated.
ReplyDeletemilking cows is wrong?
kissing is wrong in a film?
they are crazy
i liked when some movies ignored this because if they never ignore the hayes code the depression that they were living never would have end.
