THE IMPORTANCE OF SOUND IN FILMS.

In early years in the silent films, the images being shoots in films on screen where supported by a piano player, organ or even an orchestra, the sound establishes all kinds of moods for the viewers and that might even lead the whole atmosphere of a film, driving its narrative.
A separate and synchronized sound track was introduced by Warner Bros in 1927 with the movie called The Jazz singer, also during that time there were also other innovations like color and widescreen, sound.
Music has always been seen as a part of films for they where not meant to be watched in total silence. I think that movies are about portraying segments of life and existence , in which the environment always consist of sounds.
Nowadays movies industry gains huge profits from sales of movie soundtracks, and the importance of music is evident in nearly every single one of today’s movies: A good example is in Celine Dion’s Titanic title song became number one in many countries all around the world having its share in making it the one of the most profitable film of all times. And when watching movie trailers, very frequently they includes a list of the bands playing on the soundtrack.

A third use of sound could be a speech, in which language can be used in different ways, like in a conversation between characters (which means dialogue), as an inner monologue or voices inside somebody’s head. Or speech can be used from a narrator’s point of view having its origin not in the present tense of the film. Speeches definitely seems to be most observed by an audience, still it leaves the director many choices and is highly characteristic: accents, stuttering, high or deep voices, etc.
